Newport to Bermuda and GMT Rigs - A Winning Combination
In the last three Newport to Bermuda Races, boats with GMT rigs have won their class or division. Two of those were awarded the coveted Saint David's Lighthouse Trophy for first out of 85 and 96 boats respectively. All three boats had been refit with a carbon rig from GMT, and one of the boats featured a GMT carbon bow sprit and custom stern mounted carbon swim ladder.

GMT Rigs in NYYC Annual Regatta
The New York Yacht Club Annual Regatta was held this past weekend in Newport, RI. There were a number of boats sailing with GMT rigs and Michele Almeida with MISTE Photography got this killer photo of Wind Walker, a Ted Hood designed 60' with a GMT carbon mast and Pocket boom.
New Faces - Same Carbon
Jonathan Craig, who started at GMT as Director of Sales and Marketing in 2011, took over as president and owner 18 months ago. Former President/Owner David Schwartz, while stepping back from the day to day operations to enjoy more sailing time, has stayed involved with the company through the transition and will provide ongoing design and engineering services. The company has enjoyed strong sales under Jonathan’s leadership, and has now made their first full time hire with Nate Williams as the new Director of Sales and Marketing. Craig states, “GMT had a great first year under new ownership, and we are thrilled to add Nate to the team. He shares our very customer-centric view in providing high levels of service and value, while seeking sustainable growth in both our marine and non-marine segments.” Jonathan and Nate are both excited to be entering this new era with GMT Composites, and they look forward to working with you!
